SCEA boosts performance and flexibility with the new rotogravure BOBST MASTER RS 6003
Mex, Switzerland, 17th February 2026
The BOBST MASTER RS 6003 rotogravure press is built for exceptional print quality, advanced automation, and outstanding energy efficiency. For SCEA, the investment in this machine has proven instrumental in expanding its flexible packaging production capacity while driving greater sustainability and operational flexibility.
Based near Verona, Italy, SCEA is a trusted supplier of high-performance flexible packaging for the food, chemical, pharmaceutical and industrial sectors. With a well-established reputation for expertise in flexographic and rotogravure printing, the company prides itself on combining the agility of a family-owned business with the advanced capabilities of a larger organisation.
Following a period of rapid expansion, including the launch of an automated logistics hub and the installation of three new production lines, SCEA found itself in need of technology that could deliver higher throughput without compromising the flexibility and quality that define its brand. Having already invested in its first BOBST press in 2016 and followed up with the purchase of a NOVA D800 laminator in 2024, the BOBST MASTER RS 6003 was the natural next step in the company’s ongoing collaboration with BOBST.
“Our first BOBST investment quickly became our flagship machine, and we’ve built on that success over the years with successive installations,” says Mauro Pattaro, Managing Director of SCEA. “With this new investment our goal was to increase production capacity while maintaining the flexibility and responsiveness that have always set us apart. The BOBST MASTER RS 6003 offered exactly that, providing the perfect blend of reliability, automation, and performance. With this new press, we can handle a wider variety of jobs, optimise setup times and guarantee the same excellence across every production run. It truly represents an evolution in our printing capabilities.”
The MASTER RS 6003 is a stand-out example of BOBST’s rotogravure press engineering. This machine combines advanced automation with a user-friendly interface and energy-efficient systems that minimise waste and downtime while securing exceptional consistency across runs. Its modular design enables users to quickly adapt to different job sizes, from large-scale industrial production to shorter, customised orders, and it can help customers reduce energy consumption by up to 20% compared with alternative machines. As a result, it is perfect for supporting SCEA’s mission of delivering high-quality packaging with a low environmental impact.
“The integration of the new MASTER RS 6003 into our production workflow has been remarkably smooth, thanks to both the familiarity of BOBST’s interface and the professionalism of our team,” explains Marina Pattaro, Quality Manager at SCEA. “From day one, our operators recognised the precision and technical reliability of the machine. It gives us exceptional control over every stage of the process, ensuring repeatability and traceability on every job.”
With the MASTER RS 6003 now fully operational, SCEA continues to pursue its ambition of improving the sustainability of its operations. The new press plays a crucial role in the company’s broader environmental roadmap, which prioritises investments that reduce its carbon footprint across every stage of production, from energy use and waste management to materials innovation.
SCEA’s relationship with BOBST began nearly a decade ago and has grown through multiple successful installations, with each project reinforcing the shared values that define both companies. The installation of the MASTER RS 6003 represents a powerful step forward in SCEA’s journey towards smarter, more sustainable, and highly efficient packaging production.
“After years of continuous transformation, we are ready to relaunch our challenge to the market,” adds Mauro Pattaro. “With BOBST technology by our side, we’re confident in our ability to compete both nationally and internationally with a modern, flexible, and forward-thinking operation.”
“SCEA is an excellent example of how a forward-thinking converter can leverage BOBST technology to achieve both performance and sustainability goals,” said Alberto Vaglio Laurin, Business Director Flex Pack at BOBST. “The MASTER RS 6003 combines state-of-the-art automation with outstanding print consistency, enabling SCEA to optimise production efficiency while reducing energy consumption. Their investment underscores the value of partnering with BOBST to drive innovation, quality, and long-term competitiveness in flexible packaging and we’re proud to support their journey towards smarter, more sustainable packaging production.”
